1014 NEW CASES, THREE DEATHS, WEDNESDAY

Three deaths due to coronavirus were announced today by the Ministry of Health, while the new positive incidents amounted to 1,014.

specifically:

  • Three people died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 394.
  • 243 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 63 are in serious condition. 92.2% of nurses have no history of vaccination.
  • A total of 73,098 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 1,014 (positivity rate: 1.39%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 94,261.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Male, aged 78, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital.
  • Man, aged 82, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 89, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 394, of which:

  • 262 men (66.5%), and
  • 132 women (33.5%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.2 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 243 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 63 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 63 patients in serious condition, 26 are intubated in an Intensive Care Unit and 37 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 73,098 diagnoses currently carried out, 7,537 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 65,561 using the antigen rapid test, 1,014 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 90 cases from 616 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 11 cases from 2,607 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 194 cases out of 3,762 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 19 cases from 326 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 226 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 70 cases from 1,971 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 629 cases from 63,590 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
