TIMES - FULL LIFTING OF MEASURES ON 19 JULY EXPECTED IN ENGLAND

 Filenews 23 June 2021

The Times newspaper reports that the Johnson administration believes it is on track to fully lift the restrictive measures against the crown on July 19, as is the goal set.

Ministers are said to have been encouraged by the slowdown in the rate of increase in cases and by the "very, very low" number of deaths. It is noted, for example, that while cases of the Delta mutation doubled until recently each week, they now double every 15 days.

It is expected to be announced next Monday that the restrictions will not be lifted sooner, particularly on 5 July as Conservative MPs push.

On the 19th, however, the government hopes to abolish the rule of distance keeping, the six-person limit on indoor gatherings and the limits on outdoor contacts.

Nightclubs that remain completely closed are also expected to open.

According to the Times, despite previous considerations to the contrary, the obligation to use a mask on public transport and in shops is also expected to be abolished and only a recommendation for face covering in certain circumstances will apply.

Similarly, the general recommendation for work from home is expected to cease to apply. It will then be up to employers and employees to define the framework for work.
