PCR FOR THOSE FROM COUNTRIES WITH DELTA MUTATION WHEN VISITING THE OCCUPIED AREAS

 Filenews 28 June 2021

The new measures, which will apply from 28 June, for those visiting the occupied areas, have been announced by the "High Committee on Infectious Diseases".

As transmitted due to the World Health Organization's concern about the Delta mutation, it was decided that all passengers, coming from countries where the Covid-19 Delta mutation has been detected, will undergo PCR tests upon arrival in the occupied territories regardless of whether or not they have been vaccinated.

According to the new categorization of countries, areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus are classified in the "orange category".

Under the orange category, passengers can enter the occupied territories without being quarantined, those who are vaccinated or have been infected with Covid-19 disease and who present a negative result of the PCR test for the virus, within 72 hours. While those who are unvaccinated should provide a negative result of the PCR test for the virus within 72 hours and will be quarantined for seven days.

However, for persons who will go from the areas controlled by the Republic of Cyprus to the occupied territories, they will be assessed accordingly if they have been in a red category country in the last 10 days, otherwise different regulations will apply. That is, individuals will be able to pass through the controlled areas in the occupied areas on the same day by presenting a negative PCR result of the last 72 hours or a negative result of a rapid antigen detection test of the last 24 hours.

Tourists who have not been vaccinated and who come from the categories of countries orange and yellow will then be able to make the same day crossing from the controlled areas to the occupied areas for a tourist tour, carried out by bus from the controlled areas, presenting a negative PCR result of the last 72 hours or a negative result of a rapid antigen detection test of the last 24 hours.
