The five arrested in connection with internet fraud investigations investigated by the authorities of a third country and arrested in Paphos on the basis of an international arrest warrant issued by Interpol will remain in custody until 7 June.
The defence of the five suspects submitted a request to stop the extradition process to the applicant country. The Court ordered that all of them remain in custody until 7 June, when it reserved its reply to this request. By then, the five had been transferred and taken into custody at Central Prison.
The five persons, aged 25, 39, 51, 60 and 63, were arrested last Thursday in Paphos as part of a coordinated operation by members of the Police, at the request of a specific country for their extradition. Investigations were carried out during the operation, with court warrants in the homes, premises and vehicles of the persons concerned, in which evidence relating to the offences under investigation was found, as well as a large amount of money.
Meanwhile, the Paphos District Court set 26 June as the starting date for the extradition proceedings of the five arrested in connection with investigated cases involving conspiracy to commit a felony, internet fraud, money laundering and forgery, which are being investigated by the authorities of a third country.
The TAEs of Headquarters and Paphos continue the examinations.
