Two major changes to the health screening process for incoming tourists in Greece have been decided by the government, the country's Tourism Ministry said in a statement. specifically:
1) Recognition of rapid tests: From now on, entry to Greece without further restrictive measures will be allowed to travellers from abroad with a negative rapid test (antigen test).
2) Raising the age limit for checks on tourist children: Following the recommendations of the European Union, checks on the necessary certificates when entering the country will now be carried out on children aged 12 and over, instead of 6 years old, as has been the case until now.
These amendments concern checks on citizens from countries for which tourist movements to and from Greece have been liberalised.
Also the two changes for rapid tests and the lower age limit for children simply amend the existing control regime, which is still in force normally and provides that every incoming tourist is entitled to free entry into Greece by showing either (a) a vaccination certificate or (b) a negative PCR test or (c) a certificate of disease or a positive diagnosis, 2 to 9 months.
It is recalled that travellers to Greece can now display the European Union's COVID-19 Digital Certificate in digital or printed form.
The purpose of all control protocols is to facilitate travellers who wish to visit our country, in addition to the constant and absolute priority care to safeguard the health safety of both tourists and Greek citizens.
