GESY - THEY ARE KICKING OUT DOCTORS AND LABS FOR ABUSE

The number of health professionals being put out of the General Health System due to abuse is increasing. The Health Insurance Agency has suspended the contracts of a specialist doctor, a psychology services company, a clinical laboratory and a pharmacy and these cases are officially under investigation, while the contract of a second clinical laboratory which has been permanently excluded from the GHS has been terminated.

In fact, according to information provided by the "F", other cases are under the microscope of the OYS and it is not excluded that in the next period new suspensions of contracts or even new suspensions of providers from the System will arise.

The vast majority of these providers claimed compensation from the OSA for services which, as it turned out in retrospect, they never offered to their beneficiaries.

As we are informed, in one case, the reference to the OAC was made by the same beneficiary who, after visiting that provider, carefully read the e-mail he received from the GHS in his e-mail, and found that the professional had registered medical tests which he had never undergone.

In the second case, a provider had entered in the software of the GHS a claim for compensation for services it had offered, but the investigation found that at that time, the professional had not received a visit from any beneficiary of the System and due to the nature of his profession, it was not possible to serve any person, remotely.

"The cooperation of the beneficiaries of the GHS, that is to say our fellow citizens, in our effort to identify those who abuse the System, is necessary," stressed the Deputy Director General of the OAC, Athos Tsinontidis, speaking to "F".

The fight against abuse, he said, "must be a matter for all of us because the GHS belongs to all of us," and recalled that "after visiting either a doctor, a pharmacy or another provider, we receive by email an official report on the entries made by the professional in the GHS software. If we all work together, monitor these emails that we receive and immediately inform the OA, then surely, at a much higher speed, the OA will be able to identify these providers and proceed, if necessary, to the imposition of sanctions." For the duration of the investigation, the investigators will not be able to work within the GHS.
