Another emblematic project that will highlight the long historical heritage of Paphos in a modern and attractive way, while at the same time enhancing traffic in the traditional centre of the city is entering a path of implementation.
The Mayor of Paphos, Phaedon Phaedon, signed with the representative of the contractor consortium the Convention for the preparation and implementation of a museum study for the creation of the Paphos Historical Documentation Centre. This will be on the site of the building of the former Central Police Station, off Kennedy Square, with a total cost of €81,336. The consortium of experts consists of Ioannis Iliadis, Charalambos Hozakoglou, Ekaterina Papazacharia, Spyridon Nasaina, Georgios Kavulakos, Stamatina Maglara, Panagiotis Tsibridis and Theodoros Kakoullis. The study will begin immediately and be completed within 17 weeks.
Speaking at the signing, the Mayor of Paphos described the project as unique for the data of Cyprus and particularly important for the city, since through the use of modern digital technologies, with 3D visualizations and augmented reality, the historical path and evolution of the city will be presented from 300 BC until the end of the 20th century, and physical objects will be included in the site.
The building of the former Central Police Station of Paphos is two-storey with an area of about 940sqm, while in the study there will be provision of use of indoor and outdoor space.
