The Ministry of Health announces that today, 16 June 2021, no death of a person due to coronavirus was recorded, while 68 are the new positive cases.
specifically:
- No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 374.
- 38 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 12 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 31,124 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 68 (positivity rate: 0.22%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 73,379.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 374, of which:
- 251 men (67%), and
- 123 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 38 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 12 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 12 patients in serious condition, six are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and four are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 31,124 diagnoses currently carried out, 4,728 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 26,396 using the antigen rapid test, 68 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 17 cases from 206 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 3 cases from 2,524 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 13 cases from 1,554 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 3 cases from 209 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 4 cases from 313 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 28 cases out of 26,083 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 235 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
