61 NEW CASES, SUNDAY

There are 61 new cases of coronavirus announced by the Ministry of Health on Sunday, while no deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded. Therefore the total number of deaths remains 378.

At the same time, 46 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 22 of whom are in serious condition.

A total of 30,610 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

  • 61 (positivity rate: 0.20%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 73,643.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:

  • 254 men (67%), and
  • 124 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 46 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 22 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 22 patients in serious condition, 10 are intubated in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 12 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 30,610 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,832 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 24,778 using the antigen rapid test, 61 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 1 case of 60 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 7 cases from 4,197 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 9 cases from 1,371 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 1 case of 216 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 43 cases from 24,562 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 173 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 31 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
