60 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH, FRIDAY

One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 372, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

This is, as we learn, a 30-year-old from Dromolaxia, who was experiencing a health problem, while he was also infected with coronavirus and was hospitalized for days in the Intensive Care Unit of the Nicosia General Hospital.

In addition, according to the announcement:

Patients hospitalized were reduced to 38 of them 15 in serious condition.

- A total of 53,864 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

-     60 (positivity rate: 0.11%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 73,115.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

- Male, aged 30, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of nicosia General Hospital

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 372, of which:

- 249 men (67%), and

- 123 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 38 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 15 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 15 patients in serious condition, eight are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and six are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 53,864 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,314 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 47,550 using the antigen rapid test, 60 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 14 cases from 251 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 4 cases from 3,271 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 15 cases from 2,364 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 1 case of 232 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 26 cases from 47,196 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 196 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 354 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
