226 (positivity rate: 0.54%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected out of 41,809 detection tests - molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid tests - bringing the total number of cases to 74,569.
According to the Ministry of Health's announcement, the number of people hospitalized remains stable, with 43 COVID-19 patients hospitalized, including 18 in serious condition, while no deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 are currently recorded and therefore the total number of deaths remains 378.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 378, of which:
- 254 men (67%), and
- 124 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 43 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYP Hospitals, 18 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 18 patients in serious condition, 10 are intubated, one is hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and seven are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 41,809 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,777 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 36,032 using the antigen rapid test, 226 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 33 cases from 454 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 6 cases from 2,324 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 46 cases from 2,612 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 1 case of 165 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 140 cases from 35,567 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 222 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
- 465 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
