VACCINATIONS - WHEN REQUESTS TO RESCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS ARE REJECTED

 Filenews 16 May 2021

The Ministry of Health informs that it has received a large number of requests to reschedule vaccination appointments, for reasons that were considered either not serious or could be foreseen at the time the appointment was arranged (e.g. scheduled business/personal trip, scheduled participation in examinations, planned social events such as weddings, baptisms, etc.). The above situation slows down the rhythms of the vaccination program.

A communication recalls that all requests for rescheduling vaccination appointments are subject to a thorough check and to avoid delays they should necessarily be accompanied by relevant documentation. Only requests relating to a good reason, which could not have been foreseen at the time of the appointment, for which sufficient documentation has been submitted (e.g. exceptional medical reasons, a case of coronavirus, case contact, etc.) will be accepted.

Any requests that do not fall within the above box will be rejected and if the person concerned by the appointment does not come to the Vaccination Centre, then it will not be possible for this to be scheduled in the future and will be cancelled. It is understood that, after the cancellation of the appointment, the citizen will be able to arrange a new appointment through the Vaccination Portal when his age group takes priority.

In this context, the public is asked not to schedule their vaccination at a time when they know in advance that they will have an impediment and to postpone the appointment they secure only if there is a good reason.

Finally, it is recalled that the Vaccination Portal will open in June especially for people attending Academic Institutions abroad on a date to be announced next year. Students are therefore advised not to schedule appointments as they will not be able to do so due to their absence abroad, as there will be no possibility of rescheduling.

For rescheduling appointments due to a serious impediment, citizens can send the following information fully completed and documented to the e-mail address vacrescheduling@mphs.moh.gov.cy:

  • Name
  • No. ID Card
  • Date of birth
  • Date and time of appointment
  • If the reprogramming concerns the 1st or 2nd dose
  • Vaccination Center
  • Type of vaccine
  • No. Contact Phone
  • Reason for requesting a change of appointment (e.g. case of coronavirus, close contact of case, etc.)
  • When is reprogramming desirable?
