VACCINATION PORTAL - Schedule 15-22 May - Note slight changes in ages for 15/16 May

 Filenews 14 May 2021

With the aim of vaccinating the largest possible percentage of the population, the implementation of the National Vaccination Plan against COVID-19 continues intensively. Up to 13 May, 42.5% (314,163 people) were vaccinated with the 1st dose of the vaccine and 13.3% of the population (98,605 people) had completed their vaccination regimen. The fact that a total of 412,768 vaccinations have been carried out so far yesterday, i.e. 46.9 doses per 100 inhabitants, ranks Cyprus in 3rd place among EU Member States.

Having achieved the initial plans for arranging appointments and vaccinating people aged 45 and over by the beginning of May, the process of granting at least once the possibility of arranging appointments for people 18 years of age and older is completed next week. Therefore, older people in older age groups who did not schedule appointments will be given the opportunity to do so again in the next period with the available vaccines.

Therefore, the programme for the opening of the Vaccination Portal in the period 15-22 May is as follows:

Age 50-54  -  Saturday 15 May, 7.30am to 5.30pm

Age 55-60  -  Sunday 16 May, 7.30am to 5.30pm

Age 18-21  -  Monday 17 May, 7.30am till Tuesday 18 May, 5.30pm

Age 61-65  -  Wednesday 19 May, 7.30am till Thursday 20 May, 5.30pm

Age 46-49  -  Friday 21 May, 7.30am to Saturday 22 May, 5.30pm

It is noted that the Vaccination Portal will open in June especially for people attending Academic Institutions abroad on a date to be announced next year. Students are therefore advised not to schedule appointments as they will not be able to do so due to their absence abroad, as there will be no possibility of rescheduling.

Please note that the weekend programme is differentiated and the Vaccination Portal will open on 15 May for ages 50-54 and 16 May for ages 55-60. Vaccinations will be carried out with all available vaccines in the Vaccination Centres operating in Cyprus. In addition, the procedure for administering the AstraZeneca vaccine to beneficiaries aged 20 years and over in the dispensaries of Personal Physicians who have expressed interest continues.

The results of vaccinations are also visible in epidemiological indicators. A characteristic highlight from the last national report is the downward trend recorded in both the number of cases, the cumulative incidence and the positivity rate, particularly at ages with a high vaccination coverage rate. There is also a decrease in admissions of COVID patients to hospitals, which reduces the burden on the Health System.
