The Cyprus Association of Supermarkets (PASYPE) in a statement issued on Sunday clarifies to consumers that a safe pass for shopping in supermarkets is not required, but is required if customers decide to visit the dining area of the supermarket operating outdoors for food or coffee.
It further clarifies that supermarkets operating in shopping centres do not require a safe pass provided that consumers only go to the supermarket and then leave without moving to other shops in the wider shopping centre area. If they decide to visit other shops in the shopping centre area then a safe pass is a prerequisite, he explains.
The Association states that from Monday 10.05.2021 the obligation to serve until 9:00 in the morning exclusively people with disabilities and persons over 65 years of age is abolished.
Finally, it adds that the current operating regime of supermarkets and other related food outlets, during the pandemic, remains the same without any variations as is the case in the rest of Europe and around the world.
