As part of the Global Road Safety Week, police conducted a week of enlightenment and policing with road checks of motorcycles and mopeds with the ultimate aim of reducing serious and fatal injuries in road collisions.

During the Cyprus road checks, which lasted from Monday 17 May until yesterday Sunday 23 May, 2021, a total of 343 complaints emerged, 44 of which concerned driving without safety and 37 related to driving without a protective helmet.

21 mopeds and 30 motorcycles were also detained for further examination.

The Police show zero tolerance for all traffic offences that contribute to fatal and serious road collisions.
