 Filenews 4 May 2021

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) is launching a 'real-time' review of the  the Chinese coronavirus vaccine Sinovac.

The review, as the Agency has made known, will be based on preliminary results from animal and human trials.

As it also states, the EMA will proceed with a review of the data until it decides whether the benefits of the vaccine outweigh the risks.

This is the first Chinese vaccine to be considered in 'real time' and the fourth vaccine in general.

It is noted that this vaccine has been effective between 50% and 90% in different studies and has currently been approved for use in China, Indonesia, Brazil and Turkey.
