A cyber attack was carried out by the Vaccination Portal in the previous two days, according to the Electronic Communications Commissioner, Giorgos Michaelides.
Speaking to Alpha Update, he explained that while around 10-20,000 people had tried to make appointments on Monday and Tuesday, that number soared to a few million. As he noted, his service was contacted by the service provider and at the same time he was in contact with the relevant Ministry.
He clarified that his agency is responsible for the security of critical infrastructure and is taking action either through its channels in the EU or through its systems in the country.
Asked to comment on whether there was a question of interception of personal data, he replied that no, since the hackers did not achieve their goal, since the portal did not fall, but was simply slower.
