The information on the details of Coronapass awaits the Commissioner for The Protection of Personal Data Irene Loizidou Nikolaidou to be placed on whether the personal data of citizens are being violated.
In her statements to the CYPE, Mrs Nikolaidou said that this proposal must first come from the relevant Ministries in order to consult her Office and then she will be able to express an opinion.
What is expected, she said, is the impact assessment imposed by Coronapass, how exactly it will work, whether there will be a single database, who will own that database, how the systems will work with each other.
The Commissioner has made it clear that Coronapass is not the same as the Greenpass which has been promoted by the Commission on the basis of European directives. As she said, Greenpass is on another basis and concerns only the travel and movement of citizens inside and outside the EU, while Coronapass is about moving Cypriot citizens within our country and the access they will have to various places.
Asked how to control the spread of the virus in the workplace when a directive prohibits test-takers from notifying the employer of their results, Ms Nikolaidou said employers could ask for the rapid test's proof number and date.
As she explained, if the employee had been positive, the Ministry's epidemiological unit would have informed him and he would already be in self-contained isolation. Therefore, by showing the number of the proof of the test and its date, it is ensured that the citizen is not positive for the virus and can therefore enter the offices of his company or service.
