Crown rates remain low today, since, according to a Ministry announcement, 75 new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected today in Cyprus by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 72,234. The positivity rate remains at 0.17%.
According to a statement from the Ministry of Health, 82 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 34 of whom are in serious condition.
A total of 44,513 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded today and therefore the total number of deaths remains 357.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 357, of which:
- 238 men (67%), and
- 119 women (33%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 82 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospital, 34 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 34 patients in serious condition, 20 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 10 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 44,513 diagnoses currently carried out, 4,403 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 40,110 using the antigen rapid test, 75 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 11 cases from 217 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 3 cases of 2,479 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 10 cases from 1,418 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 3 cases from 170 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 3 cases from 406 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 45 cases from 39,704 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 119 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
