69 NEW CASES, WEDNESDAY

Another 69 new cases of COVID-19 disease announced by the Ministry of Health identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 72,159. The positivity rate is 0.17%.

A total of 41,776 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test

At the same time, no deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded, so the total number of deaths remains 357.

Also, 95 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 35 are in serious condition.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 357, of which:

  • 238 men (67%), and
  • 119 women (33%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

In total, 95 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in the hospitals, 35 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 35 patients in serious condition, 22 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and eight are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 41,776 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,554 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 36,222 using the antigen rapid test, 69 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 20 cases from 261 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 13 cases from 2,367 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 3 cases from 301 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 441 samples examined using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 32 cases out of 35,781 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 141 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 5 samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos, Tylliria.
  • 2,479 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
