562 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, WEDNESDAY

One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 327, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health.

246 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 67 in serious condition, figures that show a decrease in nurses. The median age of the hospitalized is 58.6 years.

562 (positivity rate: 0.98%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by 57,314 tests - molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test-, bringing the total number of cases to 67,982.

The positivity rate has been reduced below 1% and in particular to 0.98%.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Man, aged 92, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 327, of which:

  • 214 men (65%), and
  • 113 women (35%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.9 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 246 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYP Hospitals, 67 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 67 patients in serious condition, 28 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 35 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 57,314 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,001 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 51,313 using the antigen rapid test, 562 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 84 cases from 977 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 4 cases from 1,874 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 95 cases from 2,685 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 9 cases from 333 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 132 samples taken under the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 28 cases from 1,421 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 340 cases from 49,892 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
