481 NEW CASES AND SEVEN DEATHS, MONDAY

The Ministry of Health announces that today, 3 May 2021, seven people have died due to coronavirus, while 481 are the new positive cases of Covid-19.

specifically:

- Seven people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 321.

- 276 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 66 of whom are in serious condition. The median age of the hospitalized is 58.6 years.

- A total of 32,399 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

- 481 (positivity rate: 1.48%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 66,911.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The seven people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

- Male, aged 73, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

- Woman, aged 85, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

- Woman, aged 95, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

- Woman, aged 82, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

- Male, aged 52, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

- Woman, aged 97, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.

- Woman, aged 82, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 321, of which:

- 209 men (65%), and

- 112 women (35%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 276 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 66 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 32,399 diagnoses currently carried out, 3,865 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 28,534 using the antigen rapid test, 481 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 65 cases from 827 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 2 cases from 1,858 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 19 cases from 715 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 16 cases from 334 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 131 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 9 cases from 167 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 369 cases from 28,367 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.
