The Department of Health on Saturday announced two deaths and 397 new cases of COVID. At the same time it announced that 233 people are being treated in hospitals, 59 of them in serious condition. The median age of the hospitalized is 58.6 years.
According to the Ministry, the total number of deaths is 334. A total of 71,251 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
The positivity rate is 0.56% and the total number of cases at 69,163.
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 disease, concern a woman aged 79 years, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital and a man, aged 82, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Nicosia General Hospital.
The total number of deaths with COVID-19 disease is 334, of which 220 are men (66%), and 114 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The two people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Woman, aged 79, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 82, with a history of vaccination, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 334, of which:
- 220 men (66%), and
- 114 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 233 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 59 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 59 patients in serious condition, 31 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 25 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 71,251 diagnoses currently carried out, 6,067 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 65,184 using the antigen rapid test, 397 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 32 cases from 479 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 7 cases from 2,256 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 86 cases from 2,867 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 8 cases from 256 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 14 cases from 1,105 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 250 cases from 64,079 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 209 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
