The Ministry of Health announces that today, 10 May 2021, one of our fellow citizens has died as a result of the pandemic, while 276 are the new positive cases.
specifically:
- One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 337.
- 207 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 64 of whom are in serious condition.
- A total of 83,418 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
- 276 (positivity rate: 0.33%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 69,708.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:
- Male, aged 84, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 337, of which:
- 222 men (66%), and
- 115 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 207 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 64 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 64 patients in serious condition, 31 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 30 are in an Increased Care Unit.
In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 83,418 diagnoses currently carried out, 8,373 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 75,045 using the antigen rapid test, 276 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 51 cases from 992 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 12 cases of 5,195 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
- 30 cases from 1,564 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 13 cases from 476 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 23 cases from 2,265 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 147 cases from 72,780 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 146 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
