Four people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 346, according to the Ministry of Health's announcement.
155 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 51 are in serious condition. A total of 92,823 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test. 171 (positivity rate: 0.18%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, bringing the total number of cases to 70,742.
Here are today's results in detail.
A. Deaths from COVID-19:
The four people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:
- Woman, aged 77, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 72, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 51, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
- Male, aged 66, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 346, of which:
- 229 men (66%), and
- 117 women (34%).
The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.5 years.
B. Hospitalized:
A total of 155 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 51 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.
Of the 51 patients in serious condition, 24 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 23 are in an Increased Care Unit.
C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):
Of the 92,823 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,195 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 87,628 using the antigen rapid test, 171 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:
- 32 cases from 2,344 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
- 49 cases from 2,639 samples taken through a private initiative.
- 1 case of 138 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
- 12 cases from 1,261 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
- 77 cases out of 86,367 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:
- 74 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
