167 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH, TUESDAY

One death and 167 new cases of COVID-19 disease announced by the Ministry of Health.

One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 348. This is a 67-year-old man who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

148 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 49 are in serious condition.

A total of 45,598 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

167 (positivity rate: 0.37%) new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 71,398.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 348, of which: 231 men (66%), and 117 women (34%).

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 148 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 49 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 49 patients in serious condition, 26 are intubated, seven are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 16 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 45,598 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,194 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 40,404 using the antigen rapid test, 167 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 24 cases from 257 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 4 cases from 2,096 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 36 cases from 2,425 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 10 cases from 308 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 108 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 4 cases from 811 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 88 cases out of 39,593 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

Another 27 incidents in the occupied territories

A total of 27 new cases of coronavirus were detected in the occupied territories through the conduct of 11,523 tests, carried out in the last 24 hours, reports the "Ministry of Health".

7 are contacts of confirmed cases and 20 are domestic infections. Of the incidents in the community, 3 were found in occupied Nicosia, 9 in Kyrenia, 5 in Famagusta and 3 in Trikomou.

The total number of cases detected so far in the occupied territories is 6959.
