167 NEW CASES AND ONE DEATH, MONDAY

One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 347, according to a statement from the Ministry of Health. 150 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 46 of whom are in serious condition. A total of 62,304 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test. 167 (positivity rate: 0.27%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, bringing the total number of cases to 71,231.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

- A man, aged 56, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 347, of which:

- 230 men (66%), and

- 117 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 77.5 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 150 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE O.C.P. hospitals, 46 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 46 patients in serious condition, 27 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 14 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 62,304 diagnoses currently carried out, 10,564 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 51,740 using the antigen rapid test, 167 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 32 cases from 380 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 5 cases from 7,329 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 27 cases from 2,220 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 5 cases from 264 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 2 cases from 919 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 96 cases from 50,821 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 366 samples taken as part of the referral programme by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
  • 5 samples taken from the residents of Kato Pyrgos, Tylliria.
