WORK HAS BEGUN ON PAPHOS' LARGEST PARK

Filenews 22 April 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

The Municipality of Paphos is moving forward with the creation of the largest urban park in Cyprus. Following the signing with the contractor Miltiades Neophytou of the contract for the construction of the project "Municipal Park of Colors", with a total cost of  €3.7 million and a duration of work of nine months, in mid-March, the Municipality of Paphos has now proceeded to close roads and accesses to the site in order to start heavy work.

This fact, although necessary for the creation of the project, is a fact that it causes financial problems for businesses in the region since in a large radius around them it is now difficult and problematic due to traffic congestion to approach by customers vehicles, while the pedestrian transition is also problematic.

The "Park of Colors" covers an area of 32 thousand square meters and will be the most "rich" in Cyprus in terms of both greenery and infrastructure. It will include square assembly areas, children's playground, cafeteria, tennis court, basketball court, small football field, changing rooms, skateboard, 3-6 meter climbing wall, management and information office, exhibition outdoor area, aromatic-botanical garden, sanitary areas, 83 parking spaces for public and disabled people, service areas, main route, and entrance gates, while hundreds of new trees will be planted.

Footnote - the park is in The Pembes Grove, covering the area that starts behind Papantoniou's main supermarket and reaches Charilaou Trikouri Street.
