The progress of the vaccination plan of Cyprus was presented today during a press conference with the Pharmaceutical Services, informing among other things about the age groups expected to be vaccinated and the upcoming deliveries of vaccines.
Introducing the next steps in the National Vaccination Plan, Ann. Director of Medical and Public Health Services Dr Olga Kalakuta initially said that until yesterday there had been 202,441 vaccinations, of which 145,357 were for the administration of the 1st dose and 52,084 for both doses. The 1st dose has also covered 10,934 people from vulnerable groups and another 745 bedridden people have been vaccinated at home with the 1st dose. At the same time, he said, vaccinations have begun in closed structures, such as Central Prisons and migrant shelters.
The vaccination plan by age
Referring to the next steps in the vaccination plan, Dr. Kalakuta noted that on:
Sunday, April 18, people aged 64-67 will again have priority for arranging appointments, Monday, April 19, the Vaccination Portal will be available for people aged 51-52, Wednesday, April 21, for people aged 49-50 Friday, April 23, for those aged 47-48.
Gradually, she said, the goal is to once again enable older people to plan their vaccination. "We will move up to the big week in the same pattern, with the aim of covering people over 40 and moving into the 30-39 age group," Dr. Kalakuta said.
Vaccine Deliveries
She noted that 500,340 doses of Pfizer vaccines are expected by the end of June, while by the end of April 2,400 Janssen vaccines, 6,000-8,400 doses of the Moderna vaccine will be received and 75,050 doses of the AstraZeneca vaccine will be received by the end of May.
