GESY ANNOUNCEMENT - PLEASE LINK YOUR BENEFICIARY FILE - IT'S SIMPLE!

This is for anyone who has not yet linked their files on the GESY system.

GESY announcement: Link your beneficiary file, it's simple!

As a beneficiary of GESY you can gain more autonomy and flexibility in the management of your medical history. The connection of the beneficiary file, which is done electronically, gives you exactly this possibility. Despite the fact that the process of connecting the beneficiary file exists from the first months of the implementation of the General Health System, the start of the vaccination program was a key point in highlighting both the necessity and mainly its usefulness.

The Beneficiary File is the tool that offers you, once you have registered in the GESY and in a list of Personal Doctor, the possibility of accessing your electronic file. That is, where all the information about the services you receive within the GESY are registered, but also about what concerns your medical history. In addition, you gain access to the Covid-19 Vaccination Portal, through which you can arrange vaccination appointments either for you or for other GESY beneficiaries. At the same time you have the opportunity to submit electronically - in an easy way - questions, complaints and / or suggestions concerning the GESY. Also, the connection of your file will soon provide you with the opportunity to be informed, through the Beneficiary Portal, about the open referrals and prescriptions that you have at GESY, as well as about the supplements that you have paid.

What does the Beneficiary File specifically include?

-      Medical history - The diagnoses and health care services you have received through GESY are automatically recorded (eg visits, medicines, laboratory and diagnostic test results, etc.).

-      Medical Profile - Includes important medical information, such as allergies, vaccinations, childhood illnesses, disabilities, medical devices, implants, which are recorded by your Personal Physician.

-      Demographics - Includes basic demographics, such as name, date of birth, nationality, address and contact details, which were registered during your registration at GESY.

-       Access log file - Records the data of all GESY providers who had access to your file.

Creating an Account at the Beneficiary Portal:

Before we look at the steps of connecting to the Beneficiary File, it is important to mention that creating an account on the Beneficiary Portal is a prerequisite for accessing your System and Beneficiary File. In case you do not already have a user account, then you should create it by following the procedure below: From the website of GESY (https://www.gesy.org.cy) select the option Create Account. Fill in the required fields and click on "Next Step". ATTENTION: The email address you choose must not have been used in another account on the Beneficiary Portal. An email will be sent to the email address you have stated to create the password. ATTENTION: This link is valid for 15 minutes. Once you have created the password your account is ready to use.

Steps to link the Beneficiary File:

Once you are registered in the GESY and in a list of Personal Doctor, the process of connecting your File with a user account is very simple, based on the following steps and takes only a few minutes. Indicatively, to date, more than 140,000 beneficiaries have already connected their file without problems and difficulties.

Step 1: Ask your Personal Physician to issue you verification codes. To link the Beneficiary File to your user account, you must have two specific verification codes at your disposal. You will receive the first one from your Personal Doctor.  After you request it, and you will receive the second one (automatically) in the email that is registered in your Beneficiary's File. That is, in the email that was registered during your registration as a beneficiary in GESY. If no email has been registered, you can ask your doctor to add your email and then issue the verification codes. The system allows the issuance of verification codes only if the email is registered.

Step 2: Log in to the Beneficiary Portal User Account. As mentioned above, a prerequisite for connecting the Beneficiary File, is to have created a user account in the System. From the GESY website, www.gesy.org.cy, select "Beneficiary Portal" and link. After logging in to your user account, you will receive an SMS with a one-time code (OTP) on your mobile phone, which you must enter in the field that will appear on your screen. The reason for this process is to confirm your identity, as a beneficiary, and to protect your personal data.

Step 3: On the home page select "Link Your Beneficiary File" After entering the security code that will be sent to your mobile phone, then the system will take you to the home page of the System. Next, select "Connect your Beneficiary File" and enter the 2 verification codes: the code given to you by your Personal Physician (verification code 1) and the code sent to your email (verification code 2). You have just connected to the Beneficiary File!

Important information you need to know:

-The verification codes have a specific validity period (24 hours) as stated in the form that you will obtain from your Personal Physician (verification code 1) and in the email that you will receive (verification code 2). In case this period expires, new codes should be requested from your Personal Physician.

-Each user account can be linked to ONLY ONE adult beneficiary file. So, in case you have created an account in the Beneficiary Portal and from your account you have registered other adults in Personal Doctors, then you should be careful and link your own beneficiary file with your user account. In case these people want access to their Beneficiary file, then they should in turn create a user account for the Beneficiary Portal and then link their Beneficiary File following the above steps.

-During the process of connecting the Beneficiary File, the user must be very careful in order to enter the correct verification codes that correspond to the specific file. If mistaken, the user account can be linked to another beneficiary's file. In this case the beneficiary should contact the Agency directly.

-The minor children files are automatically linked to the parents' accounts as long as the parents link their user account to their own Personal Beneficiary File. Both parents have access. For non-Cypriots, the automatic connection is made with the understanding that the parents have registered in GESY before their children.

-If parents register after their children should ask their child's Personal Doctor (paediatrician) to add their details during the beneficiary verification / identification process that will follow during the child's first visit to his office. In case they do not do so, they should contact the Health Insurance Agency, calling the five-digit 17000.

-To see the Beneficiary File of your minor children, you must select his/her name from the user icon (upper right "Change Beneficiary") for your child. --In case of adult children then a separate account should be created for each child, which will be linked to the corresponding file of the child beneficiary.

-The same goes for other adults (grandparents) that we have registered with a Personal Doctor from our account.

If, however, a beneficiary is unable to log in on its own, they can contact the GESS Service Center at 17000 or send an email to info@gesy.org.cy.
