DOG TRACKER ASSIGNED TO THE POLICE BY THE CYPRUS TRACKER GROUP

 9/4/21

For the needs of the Police Dogs Branch

An interesting collaboration, which aims to further strengthen the operational capabilities of the Police, was

launched today between the Cyprus Police and the Cyprus Tracker Group. At the initiative of the Group, a

dog tracker was granted to the Police today for the needs of the Police Dog Branch.

It is a purebred tracker of the breed ARIEGOIES, of French origin, belonging to Group 6 of the International

Cynological Federation. Dogs in this group, with appropriate training, can be used in police operations

involving the detection of drugs, explosives and missing persons. It is also noted that Group 6 dogs are

used in police departments in European and other countries successfully.

The delivery of the dog took place today, at the premises of the Police Dog Branch, by the President of the

Group Mr. Haris Antoniou, in the presence of the Chief of Police Mr. Stelios Papatheodorou.

The intention of the Cyprus Tracker Group is to continue this cooperation with the free concession of

dog trackers, of different breeds, to strengthen the Police Dog Branch.

For his part, the Chief of Police thanked the Tracker Group for its initiative, noting that the Police looks

forward to continuous and constructive cooperation.
