"Covid passports" with which every citizen can prove they have been vaccinated against the crown will probably be available as of next month in Britain, a Daily Telegraph report says.
The paper cites information allegedly received by the Johnson government from agents of the British travel industry.
The introduction of "vaccination passports" in May will aim to enable Britons to take advantage of the decision of countries such as Cyprus to welcome with less inconvenience those visitors who show proof of vaccination.
It is recalled that according to the roadmap for lifting pandemic restrictions presented by the British Government, the first possible date for international leisure travel to be allowed again is 17 May.
However, on return to Britain tourists will be required to undergo diagnostic tests and depending on the country of origin to be placed in solitary confinement at home for a period of five to ten days, as defined in the 'traffic light' system announced above.
The COVID-19 vaccination certificate could be either digital or physical, with the Telegraph noting that relevant ministers are considering what is best to do within the tight time limits remaining before the summer.
However, the certificate will carry a government vaccination certificate, which means that it will be done without complications accepted by the authorities of other countries.
The briefing was reportedly made on Wednesday by government officials to members of the Tourism Industry Emergency Task Force set up in Britain to find solutions as soon as possible for the travel sector.
A government official was quoted as saying during the teleconference: "We aim to enable people to demonstrate their vaccination status when international travel resumes, for whichever country requires it. The earliest this will happen is 17 May."
The Telegraph points out that the debate concerned a British system of vaccination passports for use by UK residents, as the corresponding international system being promoted is not expected to be ready until mid-May.
