 Filenews 9 April 2021

At an advanced stage are the consultations of the Ministry of Health with the Russian side on the supply of 100 thousand doses of Sputnik V vaccine, once licensed by the European Medicines Agency (EMA).

According to information from the Ministry of Health, consultations are at an advanced stage and are expected to be completed in the next fortnight.

The Ministry of Health is negotiating the purchase of 50 thousand doses of the Russian vaccine, with the right to purchase another 50 thousand doses, on the basis of a decision taken by the Council of Ministers in early March.

The decision was taken in an effort to strengthen the vaccination programme and that is why Nicosia is making it a condition for the purchase of the vaccine, its immediate delivery, once it has obtained the necessary permission from EMA, which began the rolling review of Sputnik V (Gam-COVID-Vac), developed by Russia's National Centre for Epidemiology and Microbiology Gamaleya. R-Pharm submitted the application for the medicinal product on behalf of the EU.
