822 NEW CASES AND THREE DEATHS, MONDAY

The Department of Health on Monday announced three deaths of covid-19 patients and 822 new cases. At the same time it announced that 284 COVID-19 patients are being treated, 68 of whom are in serious condition.

The total number of deaths is 294.

A total of 59,766 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

The positivity rate is 1.38%. The total number of cases since the beginning of the pandemic is 57,081.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Male, aged 58, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Man, aged 82, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Famagusta General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 64, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 294, of which:

  • 194 men (66%), and
  • 100 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 284 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 68 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 68 patients critical, 30 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 33 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 59,766 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,125 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 54,641 using the antigen rapid test, 822 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 123 cases out of 1,321 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 10 cases of 2,205 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 71 cases from 1,222 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 19 cases from 262 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 36 cases from 1,141 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 563 cases from 53,500 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 115 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
