773 NEW CASES, SUNDAY

The Ministry of Health announced on Sunday 773 new cases of coronavirus while 301 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 74 are in serious condition. The median age of the hospitalized is 58.6 years.

No deaths of patients with a final cause of death of COVID-19 were recorded, so the total number of deaths remains 298.

A total of 56,862 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test and 773 (positivity rate: 1.36%) have been carried out. new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 62,349.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 298, of which:

  • 197 men (66%), and
  • 101 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 301 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 74 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 74 patients critical, 32 are intubated, six are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 36 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 56,862 diagnoses currently carried out, 3,333 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 53,529 using the antigen rapid test, 773 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 113 cases from 826 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 144 cases from 2,092 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 11 cases from 135 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 10 cases from 224 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 495 cases from 53,305 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 280 samples taken as part of the programme of referrals by Personal Physicians and control of special teams through the Public Health Clinics.
