705 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - FRIDAY

A woman aged 88 with underlying diseases has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 261. According to an announcement by the Ministry of Health, today 705 (positivity rate: 1.19%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected from 59,144 tests.

It is worth noting that the number of positive samples detected by contact tracing has increased.

Specific:

-     193 patients COVID-19 are hospitalized, of which 45 are in serious condition.

- A total of 59,144 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

- 705 ( positivity rate: 1.19%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were detected by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 46,878.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

- Woman, aged 88 years, with underlying diseases, without a history of vaccination who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 261, of which:

- 173 men (66%), and

- 88 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 193 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 45 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 45 patients critical, 22 are intubated, four are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 19 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 59,144 laboratory diagnoses currently carried out, 5,204 were carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and 53,940 using the antigen rapid test, 705 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 317 cases out of 1,494 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases of 1,870 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 35 cases from 1,350 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 19 cases from 363 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 127 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 5 cases from 369 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 322 cases from 53,571 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

322 positive results were identified today from 53,571 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

The highest percentage of positivity is found in Limassol, followed by Nicosia and Larnaca.
