619 NEW CASES, ONE DEATH - Tuesday

There has been a large increase in new positive cases of coronavirus, since today they reached 619, while one person lost his life.

According to the announcement of the Ministry of Health:

  • One person has died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 274.
  • 228 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, of which 63 are in serious condition.
  • A total of 51,256 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.
  • 619 (positivity rate: 1.21%) new cases of COVID-19 have been identified by molecular tests (PCRs) and antigen rapid tests, bringing the total number of cases to 52,652.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

One person who has died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concerns:

  • Male, aged 69, with an underlying disease, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Limassol General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 274, of which:

  • 181 men (66%), and
  • 93 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 228 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 63 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 63 patients critical, 33 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 25 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 51,256 diagnoses currently carried out, 5,538 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 45,718 using the antigen rapid test, 619 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 114 cases from 921 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 3 cases of 1,182 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 148 cases out of 2,973 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 14 cases from 256 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 206 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 33 cases from 1,578 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 306 cases from 44,140 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
