611 NEW CASES AND THREE DEATHS, MONDAY

Three people died from COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 301, the Department of Health announced Monday.

At the same time 611 (positivity rate: 1.21%) new cases of COVID-19 disease were identified by molecular tests (PCR) and antigen rapid test, bringing the total number of cases to 62,960.

A total of 300 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 78 in serious condition. The median age of the hospitalized is 58.6 years.

A total of 50,601 disease detection tests have been carried out using the molecular method (PCR) and the antigen rapid test.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • Male, aged 48, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 89, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 90, with a history of vaccination (1st dose), who ended up in Larnaca General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 301, of which:

  • 198 men (66%), and
  • 103 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 300 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in OKYY hospitals, 78 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 78 patients critical, 36 are intubated, three are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 39 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 50,601 diagnoses currently carried out, 8,829 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 41,772 using the antigen rapid test, 611 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 60 cases from 660 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 6 cases from 5,867 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 91 cases from 1,850 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 19 cases from 357 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 1 case of 95 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and Special Teams Control through Public Health Clinics.
  • 22 cases from 549 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 412 cases from 41,223 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.
