602 NEW CASES AND THREE DEATHS, WEDNESDAY

Three people have died of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of deaths to 277, the health ministry announced.

As stated in the communication, 232 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, 63of whom are in serious condition. Of the 50,287disease detection tests, 602 new cases of COVID-19 have been identified and the positivity rate remains at 1.20%.

Here are today's results in detail.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

The three people who died with the final cause of death attributed to COVID-19 concern:

  • A man, aged 85, with an underlying disease, with no history of vaccination, who ended up in Larnaca General Hospital.
  • Woman, aged 87, with underlying diseases, without a history of vaccination, who ended up in Nicosia General Hospital.
  • Male, aged 80, with underlying diseases, no history of vaccination, in the Intensive Care Unit of Nicosia General Hospital.

Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 is 277, of which:

  • 183 men (66%), and
  • 94 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 78 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 232 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE HOSPITALS, 63 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 63 patients critical, 32 are intubated, five are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 26 are in an Increased Care Unit.

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 50,287 diagnoses currently carried out, 4,163 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 46,124 using the antigen rapid test, 602 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 120 cases from 888 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 149 cases out of 2,171 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 20 cases from 406 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 3 cases from 261 samples taken under the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through public health clinics.
  • 19 cases from 698 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 291 cases from 45,426 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 437 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.

291 positive results were currently 45,426 samples tested using the antigen rapid test.

Larnaca is the first in the positivity rate, followed by Limassol.

In detail, the rapid antigen detection tests were carried out today as follows:
