601 NEW CASES, FRIDAY

No deaths of patients with a final cause of death on COVID-19 were recorded today, so the total number of deaths remains 268, while 601 new cases of COVID-19 disease have been identified (positivity rate: 0.95%), the Ministry of Health announced on Friday

According to the Ministry of Health, 205 COVID-19 patients are hospitalized, including 50 in serious condition.

A total of 63,207 molecular (PCR) and antigen rapid test tests have been carried out, of which 601 (positivity rate: 0.95%) have been identified. new cases of COVID-19 disease, bringing the total number of cases to 50,589.

A. Deaths from COVID-19:

No deaths of COVID-19 patients were recorded today. Therefore, the total number of deaths with the final cause of COVID-19 remains 268, of which:

  • 176 men (66%), and
  • 92 women (34%).

The average age of the deceased from the disease is 79 years.

B. Hospitalized:

A total of 205 patients with COVID-19 disease are hospitalized in THE OKYP hospitals, 50 of whom are in serious condition or in MAF conditions.

Of the 50 patients critical, 29 are intubated, two are hospitalized in an Off-Respirator Intensive Care Unit and 19 are in an Increased Care Unit.

In detail the situation in the hospitals is as follows:

C. Positive events COVID-19 (PCR test and rapid antigen test):

Of the 63,207 diagnoses currently carried out, 4,495 were made using the molecular method (PCR) and 58,712 using the antigen rapid test, 601 cases of COVID-19 disease were identified, resulting as follows:

  • 148 cases out of 1,011 samples taken through the process of tracing contacts of already confirmed cases.
  • 5 cases from 1,024 samples taken as part of a passenger check at Larnaca and Paphos Airports.
  • 113 cases from 2,078 samples taken through a private initiative.
  • 12 cases from 346 samples taken from the Microbiological Laboratories of the General Hospitals.
  • 19 cases from 539 samples tested using the antigen rapid test in private clinical laboratories and pharmacies.
  • 304 cases from 58,173 samples examined using the antigen rapid test.

In addition, the following laboratory tests were carried out, without the detection of a case:

  • 36 samples taken as part of the referral program by Personal Physicians and special teams control through the Public Health Clinics.
