Johnson & Johnson's vaccine against Covid-19 is recommended for use in countries where coronavirus variants are circulating, according to the World Health Organization's expert committee.
"In countries where variations are high and in countries where we now have information on the use of this vaccine to control Covid-19 caused by these variants of the virus, we recommend its use," said Alessandro Kravioto, president of the World Health Organization's expert group , which met to judge the efficacy and safety of the vaccine developed by the American pharmaceutical company Johnson & Johnson.
The WHO expert group may also make an announcement on the AstraZeneca vaccine later in the day to clarify issues arising from the decision of European countries to discontinue vaccination with the company's vaccine citing some rare side effects.
