Filenews 2 March 2021
Priority for arranging appointments will be given from Wednesday, March 3rd, at 9 a.m. to people aged 69 and over, as part of the plans of the National Vaccination Plan for COVID-19. In particular, 17,496 appointments will be made available through the Vaccination Portal for all Vaccination Centres operating in all Provinces.
Vaccinations are carried out with three vaccines licensed by the European Medicines Agency, Pfizer/BioNTech, Moderna and AstraZeneca. In the coming days, the European Medicines Agency will assess Johnson&Johnson's application for a single-dose vaccine.
Until yesterday, March 1st, there were 82,564 vaccinations in the Vaccine Centres that exist in all provinces. It is recalled that since last week two new Vaccination Centres have been launched in Larnaca and Paphos, increasing the possibility of vaccinations, in view of the increased quantities of vaccines to be received in the coming period. In full development of the Vaccination Center, up to 15,000 vaccinations can be performed daily.
In order to avoid discomfort and confusion in the Vaccination Centres, a strong appeal is made for people who will be vaccinated to go to the Vaccination Centres at the time they have scheduled their appointment and not earlier.
It is also recommended that citizens in the age sub-group that has priority for vaccination arrange appointments on the first time available day and time, so that there is a continuous flow to the Vaccination Centres.
It is recalled that depending on the rate of exhaustion of appointments for people over the age of 69, citizens will be informed by means of a communication on the availability of appointments to subsequent age groups. Citizens are invited to follow the announcements of the Ministry of Health, so that they know the differences in the age group and make an appointment arrangement.
