THE FRENCH FRIGATE AUVERGNE IS MOORED IN THE PORT OF LARNACA

The French frigate "Auvergne" has been moored in the port of Larnaca since Saturday as part of French navy missions in the Eastern Mediterranean.

As Sozos Christos Theodoulou, Honorary Consul of France in Larnaca, said, "the French navy conducts regular patrols with its frigates in the wider Eastern Mediterranean region, with the aim of both general security and strengthening military cooperation with Cyprus and France's other partners in the region".

He added that "the French multipurpose frigate "Auvergne" has been in Larnaca port since Saturday and will depart tomorrow and the visit is part of French navy missions in the Eastern Mediterranean. In May it is expected to arrive at the port of Limassol, accompanied by two other navy ships and the aircraft carrier Sarls De Gaulle."

It is noted that the frigate has a displacement of 6 thousand tons, a length of 140 meters and a width of 20 meters, has a crew of up to 150 people while its maximum speed is 27 knots, i.e. 50 kilometres per hour.
