Spanish Tourism Minister Reyes Maroto said today that the country could start using vaccination passports from May, when the international tourist exhibition FITUR is scheduled to take place in Madrid.
"We may be able to start applying the digital passport (when FITUR starts on May 19)," Reyes Maroto told The Andena 3 TV channel.
Faced with a pandemic that has claimed the lives of more than 900,000 people in Europe and has thrown the continent into its deepest recession, EU leaders have agreed to work to create vaccination certificates to start moving the tourism industry, which has been hit hard by the pandemic.
