From 7 April, the 2021 summer sailings from Cyprus will be opened for bookings by Royal Caribbean cruises, the company announced.

From July 10th the cruise ship Jewel of the Seas will have Limassol as its port of departure for the first time and will sail for seven-night cruises to the picturesque coasts and ancient monuments in Cyprus, Greece and the Greek islands until October.

Travellers can explore a combination of cities with rich culture and idyllic islands, including Limassol, Athens, Rhodes, Crete, Mykonos and Santorini.

Cruises will be carried out with a vaccinated crew and will currently be available to adult guests who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 and those under the age of 18 with negative diagnostic tests.

"I am pleased to announce our safe and gradual return to Europe. We know how impatient our guests are to enjoy an escape this summer and these cruises, which include a mix of fantastic destinations and must-visit islands, are the perfect getaway," said Royal Caribbean president and CEO Michael Bailey.

"Cyprus is a beautiful island and we are grateful to the Cypriot government for their support and enthusiasm for making these incredibly itineraries," he added.

For his part, Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios said that "we are pleased that Royal Caribbean International will have Limassol for its first time. This has been an ambition of ours for many years and we are thrilled that this dream has finally paid off."

"We are convinced that Royal Caribbean's presence in Limassol will be beneficial for Cyprus and likewise we are very confident that Cyprus will meet the expectations of Royal Caribbean and its guests as a starting port and as a country," he added.

At Jewel, travellers can cool off in the swimming pools and hot tub, rejuvenate at the Vitality Spa and Fitness Centre and dine by choosing from many free and specialties bars and restaurants, including their favourite Chops Grille and Izumi.

Extended over 13 decks, the ship includes a climbing wall, casino, sports court, nine-hole mini golf course, outdoor movie screen and more.
