PAPHOS-POLIS ROAD - SIGNIFICANT DEVELOPMENT ANNOUNCED BY MINISTER OF TRANSPORT

Filenews 5 March 2021 - by Dora Christodoulou

The review of the Offer Council was completed today with the award of the relevant tender concerning the road Chrysochous Town - Paphos. This very positive development for the project was announced by the Minister of Transport, Communications and Works, Giannis Karousos, expressing the will of him and the government to promote as directly as possible the implementation of a project of public interest and of the utmost importance for an entire province.

We recall that the matter was re-forwarded to the Bid Council, with the latest decision of the Review Authority rejecting the consortium's appeal. As the Paphos bodies consider, the new appeal of the second consortium was made in order to prevent the return of the matter to that committee, since on the basis of the opinion of the Legal Service, on the basis of the law passed in 2016, the preferred bidder has the possibility to make changes to individual issues of the competition and then the tender is re-awarded to it by the competent body.

"The important thing is that with the decision of the Review Authority", Paphos agents stressed today, "the competent ministry was able to proceed in an immediate period with the award of the project and the construction work could now be promoted regardless of the subsequent legal moves of anyone".

Two months after this positive development for Paphos province, the procedures are expected to restart, creating feelings of satisfaction in the province
