The roads into Troodos
The roads leading to Troodos (Platres - Troodos, Karvoronas - Troodos and Prodromos - Troodos) are open ONLY for vehicles equipped with non-slip chains or with four-wheel drive. Light snowfall and fog are observed in the area.
Also slippery are the roads Pedoulaki - Prodromos and Peddoulakis - PINEWOOD - Kakopetrias, due to light snowfall.
Drivers are encouraged to be particularly careful, to drive at low speeds and to keep safety distances from the vehicles in front.
Forecast through Saturday
Today Wednesday, the weather will be mostly cloudy and local rains, isolated storms and snow are expected on the highest peaks of Troodos, with the phenomena weakening quite a bit in the afternoon. The temperature will rise around 17 degrees inland, on the west and north coasts, around 18 on the south and east coasts and around 8 degrees in the higher mountains.
Tonight, transiently increased clouds are expected to give isolated light rain, mainly on the west and north coasts as well as slight snowfall locally in the higher mountains. The temperature will drop to around 9 degrees inland, around 11 on the south and east coasts, around 13 on the west and north coasts and around zero in the higher mountains, where frost is expected to form.
On Thursday, the weather will be partly cloudy and intermittently mostly cloudy and isolated rains and/or thunderstorms are expected as well as snow locally in the higher mountains. The temperature will gradually drop to below average climatic values.
On Friday, the weather will be partly cloudy but intermittently increased clouds are expected to give isolated rain or even thunderstorms, while locally in the higher mountains it is expected to snow. Gradual improvement of the weather is expected from the afternoon onwards. The temperature will gradually drop to below average climatic values.
On Saturday, periods of sunshine will alternate with periods of increased cloudiness. The temperature is expected to rise slightly but will remain below average climatic values.
