The Commission's plan to lift restrictions on travel with the necessary security will be presented on 17 March, Commission Vice-President Margaritis Schinas announced today at the end of the teleconference of EU Health Ministers. The Vice-President also joined the presentation of the "green digital pass", to which President Von Der Leyen also referred.

Vice-President Schinas made it clear that this instrument will be presented in a way that does not discriminate between citizens and will also include those who have negative tests or antibodies after they have been sick.

She made it clear that "exceptional times we need to mobilise exceptional tools" to ensure "that we will not be imposed from elsewhere." She welcomed the convergence between EU leaders to continue the preparation and announced that the Commission has set up a working group with Commissioners Kyriakidou, Breton, Rayders, Johansson and the proposal be put to the leaders at the 25 March summit.
