GESY - 43,448 BENEFICIARIES RECEIVED INPATIENT CARE IN FIRST 6 MONTHS OF INPATIENT CARE

Statistics for the first six months following the integration of inpatient care services, according to the Health Insurance Agency (YSO) show that 43,448 beneficiaries received inpatient care services.

In particular, 8,800 patients underwent general surgery procedures, 2,000 patients underwent orthopaedic surgery, 3,000 births (normal or by caesarean section), 2,200 patients on long waiting lists underwent open heart operations and catheterizations, and 1,600 oncological patients received inpatient care services.

As the OAC reports, after 18 months of operation, the GHS is currently operating with the participation of more than 70% of active doctors in Cyprus as well as more than 88% of beds on a Cyprus basis. Also, the participation of laboratories in the GHS is close to 100% and pharmacies are close to 95%.

To date 853,422 beneficiaries have been registered with the GHS and on a list of personal doctors, 756,440 have visited their personal doctors, 574,007 visited specialists, 333,080 visited specialist doctors for diagnostic tests, 606,083 beneficiaries received medicines, 523,679 received services from laboratories and 43,448 were hospitalised between June and December 2020.
