EXTENSION OF THE PERIOD FOR CONTRIBUTIONS OF SELF-EMPLOYED WORKERS

The Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance announces that today, in the Official Journal of the Republic, the Decision to extend the application of self-employees for contributions on real earnings below the minimum amount of insurable earnings in their occupational category and the Extension of the Deadline for the Payment of Contributions of Self-Employees to the Social Insurance Fund Decision (No. 105) of 2021 has been published.

In the context of the Extraordinary Measures taken by the Ministry of Labour, Welfare and Social Insurance to tackle the COVID-19 Virus Pandemic Laws of 2020 and with a view to supporting self-working persons, the following shall be decided:

(a) The deadline set under Regulation 17 of the C.I.P. 289/2010 for the submission of an application for contributions by self-employees for the first quarter of 2021 on actual earnings below the minimum amount of earnings in their professional category shall be extended until 29 April 2021.

(b) Contributions to the Social Insurance Fund paid under the Social Insurance Laws and the General Health System Laws; relating to contributions to the insurable earnings of self-employees for the first quarter of 2021 and payable until 10 May 2021 under the provisions of the above Laws, may be paid until 10 June 2021 and the time limit for their payment shall be extended until that date.

(c) Contributions to the Social Insurance Fund and the Health Insurance Fund set out in paragraph (b) above shall not become due until 10 June 2021 and no additional fee or charge imposed under the Social Insurance Laws and the General Health System Laws shall be imposed until 10 June 2021.

(d) If the contributions referred to in paragraph (c) above are not paid until 10 June 2021, they shall become due and the provisions of the relevant Laws providing for the imposition of an additional fee for overdue contributions shall apply from 11 June 2021.
